Managing Director at G&M Consultants, Ed Giacobone, specified PGH’s Harvest Cream, a monotone brick from the Urban Living smoothface range for all external walls throughout the school’s buildings due to its consistency and compatibility qualities.

“We wanted a brick that didn’t date, had a light colour and was plain face. Harvest Cream was an early favourite and once we showed the client, they agreed it met the specifications and would blend into the natural surroundings,” Alan said.

The development and design of Unity College from conception to construction has been divided into a number of stages. Stage One, completed in 2006, included an administration building, library, 12 classrooms and a technology centre hosting science, food technology industrial technology and art facilities.

Stage Two, completed in 2008, involved the construction of 14 classrooms, a science and computing centre and a large covered sports area with dance, drama and music facilities.

To ensure the design of the campus was contemporary and would move with future trends, Ed specified grey grout to provide a modern look yet complement the natural surroundings.

Ed has specified PGH Bricks on numerous projects and likes working with PGH Bricks as he believes they generally are highly consistent with respect to shape and size.

The Principal of Unity College, Rudy Goosem, is very pleased with the school’s construction to date.

“We have had positive feedback both verbally and from recent surveys we undertook with the parents and students on they look and feel of the new campus,” said Rudy.

Stage Three is scheduled to commence construction in June 2009 and will include a Learning Resource centre, additional classrooms, a covered sports areas for the Junior school and a food technology building for the Senior school. Upon completion, Unity College will have the capacity to educate 1,400 students.
